Six Baptisms At Church Today

So, let me just start by saying that it's always fantastic when people are baptized at our church. But, today it was really special to me and I think to others as well, even if they couldn't necessarily pin-point if you had asked them, for the reason of the special sense of the Holy Spirit's presence among us today.

Let me attempt to explain my thoughts.

Here in the state of Michigan where I am a Pastor, we just experienced very disappointing election results. Our state chose to reelect a leftist Governor and a leftist Attorney General who thinks drag queens in schools are a good thing for kids. Beyond these disappointments, the most devastating reality for us is that our state is now fully on course to become the abortion capital of the midwestern states thanks to the passing of something known as Proposition #3, which enshrines the most heinous abortion language you might imagine, right into our state constitution. As I said, very discouraging stuff this past week.

Which leads me to what the Lord reminded me of once again today so clearly. Namely, the wonderful promise He gave to the Apostle Peter about His church when He said to Peter, "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it," (Matthew 16:18). That's right, my friends, the gates of hell "shall not prevail against it" and "it" refers to the Lord's church. Hellish governors and hellbent Attorney Generals won't prevail against Christ's church because Jesus is the King and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

So, today when Beth, Sandra, Francesca, Jonatan, Donald, and Allen were baptized, it was a glorious reminder from the Holy Spirit of God to His people at Redeeming Hope Church that He is still powerful, mighty, and working in our midst. We are a young (barely over a year old), smaller (average just over 200 on Sunday), mobile congregation (use a school building on Sundays), but we are experiencing a mighty work of God among us continuously.

I'm always excited when we have baptisms at church. But, I was particularly grateful for the Holy Spirit-given reminder that came with these baptisms today.

If you're interested in seeing what the Lord is doing among us, I encourage you to consider joining us for a service in the near future.
